And about those motorcycles. . .

This video was shot from the first refugio on the Stevlio climb from Bormio. This will give an idea of what's happening in the Alps and Dolomites (and probably the Pyrenees and every other mountain range in Europe). They're being overrun by Valentino Rossi wannabes. I'm sure they complain about us bicyclists as much as we complain about them. . . but we don't spew fumes and we don't make any noise. As South African professional cyclist Robbie Hunter (of the Garmin Transitions team) twittered in May, 2010, "Weekend warriors on motorbikes who think they're Valentino Rossi need to go do that s*#t on the track, not the roads!!! Idiots!!!" Not particularly eloquent, but reflects my sentiments pretty well.

Seriously, I think there is liable to be trouble in the future because of the huge number of motorcycles that are out there. In 2006, we noticed a few motorcycles here and there. Four years later, it's just plain crazy how many there are out there.
